Nguyãen Cao Ky was born on September 8, 1930 in Son Tay, Vietnam. He was flight trained by the French, and returned to Vietnam in 1954 to hold a series of commands in the South Vietnamese air force. He was involved in the overthrow of President Diem, and was later appointed to the air force command. Creighton W. Abrams was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He was the commander of the U.S. Military Assistance Command in Vietnam (MACV) and was the Chief of Staff (CofS) of the Army.
